Academic background:

I am a professor of experimental quantum physics at TU Wien, where I am leading the research division on Cold Molecules and Quantum Technologies at the Atominstitut. We are part of the Vienna Center for Quantum Science and Technology, Wolfgang Pauli Institut and the Cluster of Excellence Quantum Science Austria.

My group and I are also affiliated with the 5th Institute of Physics at the University of Stuttgart, where I have been a group leader and deputy professor. In Stuttgart, we are part of the International Max Planck Research School for Condensed Matter Science and the Center for Integrated Quantum Science and Technology (IQST).

Before that, I was a Feodor Lynen postdoctoral fellow in Jun Ye's group at JILA in Boulder, and a CoQuS PhD fellow in Jörg Schmiedmayer’s group at the Atominstitut. During my PhD, I have also been a visiting researcher in Christophe Salomon’s group at École Normale Supérieure in Paris. As an undergraduate, I studied physics in Mainz and Marseille and carried out my diploma work in Herwig Ott’s group at Johannes Gutenberg-University in Mainz.

Theses:

  • Addressing of ultracold atoms in optical lattices
Diplomarbeit, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, Germany (2008)
